Now that they’ve started adding unskippable ads when I’m trying to flick through my friends’ stories on Instagram, I might finally have to get rid of it. (I should have got rid of it long ago but it’s my main communication tool with a lot of friends).

There shareholder mechanic to push people towards a paid version by enshittifying the free version of a service is so obvious. YouTube and all of its ads come to mind. They also allow you to play videos using a minimized screen and scroll other apps only IF you have YouTube premium. That feature is just locked behind a paywall.

Story of every app out there, for real.

And see, you are facing the same problem that I highlighted, all of our friends and family are on a platform which makes switching hard.

And I guess you aren’t the only one with the issue, everyone faces the same thing.

The sad reality of the world : D

Heard about this term for the first time and I am shocked, I get it now why every application feels like it's getting worse.

That’s why we wrote this, still not familiar to a lot of people.

Yes, I noticed that programmes decay so fast to try to force you to purchase the new version where you really lose so many useful additions. But, I purchased the professional version of the Windows and Excel package because I could not publish my book on 'homeware'. Then, they tried to force me into a cheap monthly update version. So, I would then require the £500+ returned to me!

Now, with the threat of withdrawing support for Windows 10, I have been looking at alternatives so I will not longer be 'blackmailed' by them.

This includes options from outside the US.

The cycle never stops, that's just how it is for all of us, sadly.
